The Back-Office Interface is a high-throughput processing engine whose role is to facilitate the integration of multiple
clearing and custody systems with the Portfolio Accounting Engine.
The Back-Office Interface retrieves daily batch processing files from back-office systems, translates the contents of those files to a standard
format, and updates and reconciles customer and account data accordingly.
Designed to allow files in multiple formats to be processed through a single mechanism as well as permit rapid configuration for
additional formats, the Back-Office Interface provides a flexible, centralized means to automatically reconcile the contents of the
Portfolio Accounting Engine against one or more back-office systems.
Facilitating employment of the BPC Suite as an accurate data aggregation and consolidation platform, the Back-Office
Interface implements direct access to systems of record, not brittle screen scraping technology.
Data accuracy is further ensured through automated handling of nearly all reconciliation events and idempotent
processing for clean batch runs free of the duplications that result from operational restarts.
Standardized plug-in adaptors and the Universal Transaction Set
(a robust, detailed abstraction layer) permit rapid creation of additional back-office interfaces.
In this way, the Back-Office Interface component can simultaneously manage any number of interfaces with
back-office systems using any number of proprietary file formats.
The BPC Suite as a whole is an event driven, real-time system.
The Back-Office Interface currently processes batch files by recasting them as a series of events.
If clearing and custody systems are capable of transmitting records as soon as processing occurs, the BPC
Suite can in turn handle those events in real-time. BPC
Applications can interface with traditional batch-mode or STP-ready real-time
back-office systems or both simultaneously.
